Domain forwarding or redirection allows you to direct traffic from one domain to another, which is useful for maintaining brand consistency and enhancing your SEO strategy. SeekaHost.app offers two types of forwarding: normal (unmasked) and masked. This guide will walk you through both methods.

Accessing Your Domain Settings

  1. Locate Your Domain: Log into SeekaHost.app and navigate to the ‘Domains’ section to find the list of your registered domains.
  2. Select Your Domain: Choose the domain you want to redirect. Click on the blue action cog button next to the domain to access its settings.
  3. Unlock Your Domain: Ensure your domain is unlocked before making any changes. You can toggle the lock status near the domain settings.

Setting Up Domain Forwarding

After accessing the domain settings:

  1. Enable DNS Management: If the domain forwarding section isn’t showing, click on the ‘Enable’ button to activate DNS management.

And then again on the Enable Domain Forwarding option.
  2. Choose Forwarding Type:
    • Normal Forwarding (301 Redirect): This option will redirect visitors to the new domain, and the URL in the browser will change to reflect the new domain. It’s a permanent redirect and maintains SEO benefits by passing link equity to the new domain.
    • Masked Forwarding: This option keeps the original domain URL visible in the browser’s address bar while displaying the content of the new domain. It’s useful for branding purposes when you want to maintain the visibility of the original domain.

Configuring Your Forwarding

  1. Select the Record Type: Choose between a forward or a masked forward based on your needs.
  2. Set the Destination URL: Enter the complete URL of the destination domain to which you want to redirect traffic.
  3. Save Changes: After entering the destination URL, click ‘Save Changes’ to apply the forwarding settings.

Additional Settings for Masked Forwarding

If you opt for masked forwarding, you can enhance the setup by specifying meta tags:

  • Meta Title: Set a title for the forwarded domain to be displayed in search engine results.
  • Meta Description: Provide a description for the forwarded domain, which can help with SEO.
  • Meta Keywords: Although less crucial nowadays, you can add keywords relevant to the content of the destination site.

Final Steps and Security

  1. Confirm Redirection: Check that the redirection works as expected by visiting the original domain and observing the redirection behaviour.
  2. Lock Your Domain: Once you’ve set up and verified the redirection, lock your domain again for security.

Support and Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues or have questions:

  • Visit the ‘Support’ section on SeekaHost.app.
  • Check the frequently asked questions and knowledge base for immediate help.
  • If needed, create a support ticket for personalized assistance.

Conclusion

Using domain forwarding on SeekaHost.app is a powerful tool for website management, allowing you to direct traffic where it’s most effective or maintain brand continuity across different domains. Whether you choose normal or masked forwarding, the process is streamlined to ensure ease of use and maximum efficiency.

Guide on migrating your website to SeekaHost’s WordPress hosting, whether you are moving from another hosting provider or from our multiple IP hosting. We’ll use a popular plugin called UpdraftPlus to ensure a smooth transition.

Step 1: Prepare Your Site for Migration

First, log in to the WordPress dashboard of the website you wish to migrate. Here’s how you can prepare your site:

  • Install UpdraftPlus: Navigate to ‘Plugins’ > ‘Add New’. Search for ‘UpdraftPlus’, install, and activate it.
  • Take a Full Backup: Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘UpdraftPlus Backups’. Click on ‘Backup Now’. Ensure all files and database options are selected for backup. This may take some time depending on the size of your site.

Step 2: Download the Backup Files To Your PC

Once the backup is complete, download the following files to your computer, which UpdraftPlus will have created:

  • Database
  • Plugins
  • Themes
  • Uploads
  • Others

Click on each component in the UpdraftPlus panel and select ‘Download to your computer’.

Step 3: Set Up a New WordPress Installation on SeekaHost

  • Log into SeekaHost: Go to the WordPress Sites section and create a new site. If you haven’t chosen a package yet, select one that fits the number of sites you want to migrate.
  • Enter Domain Name: Input your domain name (without ‘www.’) and other necessary details.
  • Install UpdraftPlus During Setup: Opt to include UpdraftPlus in your installation for easy restoration later.

Step 4: Update Your DNS Settings

  • Adjust Name Servers: Once your new site is ready, update the DNS settings by pointing your domain to the new SeekaHost servers. This involves copying the provided name servers and updating them where your domain is registered. The nameservers you need will be provided one you create your new WordPress installation.

Side Note If Moving PBN Blog to WordPress

If you are moving your site from our PBN hosting to our WordPress hosting, at this point you will need to take a few extra steps.

  • Delete your exiting nameservers by going to your domain list > click on the action cog > unlock the domain > go to nameservers > Scroll to the bottom and first delete ns1, then ns2.
  • You will need to delete your blog from the PBN blog list. This is because SeekaHost cant have the same 2 sites hosted on the same servers. So you will need your blog deleted first before starting your new WordPress site with the same domain name.

Step 5: Restore Your Site on SeekaHost

  • Log into Your New WordPress Site: Navigate to ‘Settings’ > ‘UpdraftPlus Backups’.
  • Upload Backup Files: Use the ‘Upload backup files’ link in UpdraftPlus to upload the files you downloaded earlier.
  • Restore Your Site: After uploading, select all components and click ‘Restore’. Follow the prompts to ensure all parts of your site are restored correctly.

Step 6: Final Checks and Configuration

  • Check Your Site: Once restoration is complete, verify that all elements (pages, posts, plugins) are intact and functioning as expected.
  • Re-enable SSL: Secure your site by enabling SSL through your SeekaHost panel to ensure all data transmissions are encrypted.

Conclusion

Migrating your site might seem daunting, but with the right tools and steps, it can be straightforward. By using UpdraftPlus and following these detailed instructions, you can efficiently move your site to SeekaHost’s WordPress hosting, whether from another provider or our own Multiple IP hosting. Hello, it’s James from SeekaHost! Today, we’re clarifying the distinctions between our PBN hosting and WordPress hosting services. If you’re unsure about which type of hosting to choose, this guide will help you understand the features of each, so you can make the best decision for your website needs.

What is PBN Hosting?

PBN Hosting is specifically designed for those who manage a Private Blog Network (PBN). A PBN involves a collection of blogs used primarily for SEO purposes to create backlinks from various unique sources. The primary features of PBN hosting include:

  • Unique IP Addresses and Name Servers: Each blog in your network gets its own IP address and name server. This is crucial for making each blog appear as if it’s independently owned and operated, thereby enhancing the SEO value of the links they provide.
  • Optimized for Smaller Blogs: PBN hosting is tailored for the smaller resource requires typical of blog networks. It supports up to 150 blogs, each capable of operating under a different IP to help mask your digital footprint.
  • Footprint Concealment: Hiding your digital footprint is essential in PBN operations. This means obscuring the fact that all blogs are owned by the same entity, which can improve the effectiveness of your backlinking strategy.

What is WordPress Hosting?

WordPress Hosting at SeekaHost is designed to cater to a broader range of website types, whether it’s e-commerce, service-based, or personal blogs. Here are some key features:

  • Enhanced Resource Allocation: This hosting provides more memory and site usage capabilities to support heavier plugins and more substantial site demands.
  • Integrated Features: Users enjoy perks such as a free email tied to their hosting account, free SSL certificates for enhanced security, and full support for all WordPress plugins and themes.
  • SeekaPanel Instead of cPanel: Our WordPress hosting uses SeekaPanel, an intuitive control panel that simplifies site management. This is especially beneficial for both beginners and experienced users by streamlining access to emails, plugins, themes, and backups without the complexity of traditional cPanel interfaces.

Choosing the Right Hosting for You

  • For PBN Owners: If you manage multiple blogs designed to look distinct and operate independently for SEO backlinking purposes, PBN hosting is the ideal choice. It offers the specific features needed to maintain and manage a large network of blogs efficiently.
  • For General WordPress Users: If you have a single site or multiple sites that don’t require the unique IP and name server configurations of PBNs, our WordPress hosting is more suitable. It’s perfect for users who need robust hosting features, including e-commerce sites, professional blogs, or service websites.

Conclusion

Choosing between PBN and WordPress hosting at SeekaHost depends primarily on your specific needs. If your goal is to manage a network of blogs discreetly for SEO purposes, PBN hosting offers the necessary tools to keep your network efficient and hidden. On the other hand, if you’re looking to build and grow a single site or a group of sites without the need for discrete IPs, WordPress hosting provides more resources, security, and user-friendly management tools to help you succeed.

  • Choose the appropriate plan: If you’re hosting a single website, you might opt for a single site plan. If you plan to host multiple sites, consider one of our larger packages that accommodate more websites.

Step 2: Initiate the Upgrade

Once you have chosen and signed up for the right package:

  • Visit our support section: Here, you can create a support ticket. Inform us in the ticket that you want to upgrade from the free hosting plan to the premium plan you’ve selected.
  • Specify your desired premium plan: It’s important to let us know exactly which plan you are upgrading to so that we can prepare for the site migration accordingly.

Step 3: Site Migration

After you’ve purchased your plan and created your support ticket, our team at SeekaHost will handle the rest:

  • Free site migration: We offer complimentary site migration for any user moving from our free WordPress hosting to a premium plan. Our team will take care of all the technical details, ensuring a smooth transition without any disruption to your site’s functionality.
  • Confirmation and finalization: Once your site has been successfully migrated to the new hosting plan, we will confirm the completion of the process. You can then begin to enjoy the enhanced features and capabilities of your new hosting environment.

Today, we’re going to explore the fundamental differences between our A Class IP Hosting and our Mixed Class PBN Hosting. This guide is designed to help you understand which hosting solution best fits your needs and how each can benefit your online strategy.

What is A Class IP Hosting?

A Class IP Hosting exclusively utilizes A Class IPs, which are within the IP range of 1 to 126. These IPs are scarce, making them a premium option in the hosting market. Because A Class IPs are less numerous and highly demanded, they tend to be more expensive. This type of hosting is particularly advantageous for projects that require IPs from specific geographical regions, offering unique advantages for SEO strategies that target distinct localities.

What is Mixed Class PBN Hosting?

Our Mixed Class PBN Hosting primarily uses Class C IPs, spanning the range of 192 to 223. Importantly, it also includes a blend of A, B, and C Class IPs. This diversity is crucial for those who aim to minimize their digital footprint while maintaining a robust online presence across various networks. It offers an excellent balance between cost and functionality, making it ideal for private blog networks where maintaining anonymity and minimizing footprints are essential.

Detailed Benefits of Each Hosting Type

  • A Class IP Hosting: Best suited for targeting specific regional markets or for businesses looking to establish a presence in diverse geographical locations. The geographic specificity of A Class IPs can significantly enhance local SEO efforts and help businesses stand out in competitive markets.
  • Mixed Class PBN Hosting: Offers greater flexibility and security for SEO practitioners managing Private Blog Networks. By using a diverse array of IP addresses, it becomes more challenging for search engines to identify and penalize networks of connected sites.

Additional Insights

Understanding IP subnets and how they relate to SEO can further clarify why different types of IP hosting are beneficial. Search engines like Google look at IP addresses to detect patterns that might suggest manipulative SEO tactics. By diversifying the IP addresses of your network sites across different classes and subnets, you can better disguise your SEO strategy and enhance the effectiveness of your PBNs.

Moreover, using various IP classes allows for more robust network architecture planning, catering to different scales and types of web projects. Whether you are running a large-scale e-commerce site or a small informational blog, the right IP hosting can significantly impact your site’s performance and search engine ranking.

Conclusion

At SeekaHost, we provide both A Class IP Hosting and Mixed Class PBN Hosting to cater to different needs. Whether you require the geographical specificity of A Class IPs or the blended diversity of Mixed Class IPs, understanding these differences will empower you to choose the best hosting solution for your projects. Each type of hosting offers unique benefits, and the right choice depends on your specific hosting requirements and the strategic goals of your online presence.
